The Tokyo-based Japan Art Association has presented its annual Praemium Imperiale prizes to five individuals in various art fields. Each winner receives about $131,000. They are Yayoi Kusama (painting), Christian Boltanski (sculpture), Frei Otto (architecture), Steve Reich (music) and Maya Plisetskaya (theater/film).
