Towers of light on hold - Artworld
Art in America, Dec, 2001 by Stephanie Cash, David Ebony
As we go to press, the installation of Towers of Light, the Lower Manhattan monumental light-sculpture proposed as a tribute to the World Trade Center and the victims of 9/11, remains on hold [see cover and "Front Page," Nov. '01]. The project, developed by artists Julian LaVerdiere and Paul Myoda, and architects Gustavo Bonavardi and John Bennett, is currently awaiting approval by the mayor's office.
Spokespersons for Creative Time, Inc., the nonprofit organization that is shepherding the work in collaboration with the Municipal Art Society, expect the city's approval by late November and installation of the piece some time in early December.
