New modern museum for Munich - Artworld - Pinakothek der Moderne - Brief Article

The Pinakothek der Moderne, a new museum for modern and contemporary art and design, opened on Sept. 16 in Munich, Germany. The 130,000-square-foot structure designed by architect Stephan Braufels houses an extensive collection of fine and decorative arts. The inaugural exhibition features works from the permanent collection, including major paintings, sculptures and video works by artists ranging from Picasso, Kandinsky and Beckmann to Josef Beuys, Bruce Nauman and Pipilotti Rist.
Also on view is a selection of design pieces, including furniture, by Eileen Gray and Charles and Ray Eames, as well as works by Isamu Noguchi and Ron Arad.
