* Now that Rickey is an Ancient Mariner, we'll find out if there was something in the Flushing water holding Henderson and his ex-Met teammate Bobby Bo back. If Rickey is as successful in the Northwest as Bonilla is in the Southeast, what else could it have been? Certainly not management.

* Somebody pinch me. Through last Saturday, the Royals and Devil Rays had scored more runs than Your World Champions. Only Detroit and Minnesota are more punchless in the A.L. than the Team of the (Last) Century.

* If I read my tea leaves correctly, Randy Johnson will face the Cardinals next Tuesday or Wednesday. Watch his matchups with Eric Davis, who is hitting better than .300 this season but is hitless in 10 at-bats against Mr. Unit, including eigth strikeouts.
