Nominate your agency for a 2007 Gold Medal Award

Parks & Recreation,  Feb, 2007

This year, not only will the Gold Medal Awards program have new deadlines, but they will shine even brighter with renewed support from Musco Lighting, LLC. Just as in years past, the team at Musco Lighting have once again stepped up to support the park and recreation field by agreeing to solely carry the funding for the Gold Medal Awards program.

"The Musco team understands and appreciates the important benefits to America of parks and recreation," said Joe Crookham, Musco's president. "Most significantly, Musco appreciates the critically important role that recreation professionals play in creating innovative programs and facilities for parks and recreation. For those reasons, Musco is proud to support the Gold Medal Awards program which recognizes and rewards excellence and innovation by recreation professionals."

Musco Lighting also assists in the presentation of the awards and creation of the Opening General Session programs at NRPA's Congress.

In addition, the timetable for submissions to this year's Gold Medal awards are important, as dates have changed from years' past:

Jan. 5: Applications were available for download from the Web site at www.nrpa.org/goldmedals

March 2: Intent to Participate forms are due by 5 p.m. EST

Week of April 9: Finalists will be notified

June 29: Finalist materials are due

Sept. 26: Gold Medal winners will be announced live at the Opening General Session at NRPA's Congress and Exposition in Indianapolis, Ind.

Omission: In the December issue, Parks & Recreation regrettably did not make mention of Musco Lighting's sponsorship of the Gold Medal Awards Program.
