A Tribute to Edmund A. Mennis - Obituary - Brief Article

Business Economics,  Jan, 2000

Over the course of his long professional career in business economics, to date spanning more than 40 years, few if any economists have made a greater contribution than Ed to NABE and to the field of business economics. His imprint on NABE and our profession is wide, deep, and enduring.

From April 1985 to October 1999, Ed served as editor of Business Economics and steadily changed our journal to meet the tremendous, revolutionary challenges to the field of business economics. For me, and I trust, most of you, Business Economics became a more effective and relevant tool to deal with our rapidly changing economic and financial environment. Only a person with Ed's excellent academic training, considerable skills as an economist, and enormous capacity for hard work could have been such a successful editor of our association's professional journal over that challenging period of more than 14 years.

Ed's contributions to NABE extend beyond those of editor. In 1960, he was elected a Fellow of NABE for his service as a professional business economist and for his leadership in the field of business economics and in NABE. In 1996, he received the coveted David L. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional service to NABE. Ed also has received a number of other impressive professional awards for his significant work in the fields of investment management and financial analysis.

On behalf of our membership, past and present, I would like to thank you, Ed, for a lifetime of outstanding service and contributions to NABE.
