Wheeldon Principal Choreographer In Boston - Christopher Wheeldon will become principal guest choreographer of the Boston Ballet - Brief Article
Dance Magazine, Nov, 1999
Boston Ballet artistic director Anna-Marie Holmes announced the appointment of Christopher Wheeldon as principal guest choreographer through the 2002-03 season, with a possible two-year contract extension. He will begin in 2000 with a new work to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, followed by evening-length works. Wheeldon premiered a new Firebird at Boston in October, and he created Corybantic Ecstasies for the company last season.
Wheeldon, a soloist at New York City Ballet, has also created works for Columbia's tentatively titled "The Dance Movie" and for NYCB. Daniel Pelzig, who spent three years as choreographer-in-residence under Bruce Marks's directorship, returned to Boston Ballet in October to revive his ballet The Princess and the Pea. Pelzig is scheduled to create a new work for the company next season.
