Warm winter wonderlands - vacations at warm-weather resorts

In the States, your vacation can become a learning experience in San Antonio, Texas. The city will host the Martin Luther King Jr. March on January 20, a three-mile walk from MLK Freedom Bridge to the MLK statue. And Florida is the former home of such notable Black historical figures as educator Mary McLeod Bethune, Gen. Daniel (Chappie) James Jr., and folklorist Zora Neale Hurston.

Hurston's hometown of Eatonville, Fla., will sponsor its "Sixth Annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities", in January. And of course, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Los Angeles are vacation mainstays.

Whether you're frolicking in the streets or attending a formal masquerade ball, New Orleans' legendary Mardi Gras is another must-see event. Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps, offers gaming casinos, bright lights and nonstop action. And glitz, glamor and good times abound in Los Angeles all year round. Whether you look in the Caribbean or the U.S., there's a warm winter wonderland waiting for you.
