During a Holy Week visit to Jerusalem and the Mideast, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori (right) of the Episcopal Church and her delegation walked nearly 500 feet after passing a security check at the Gaza border to visit the Anglican-founded Al Ahli Arab Hospital on March 19. An eager Palestinian (center) volunteered to carry a box of flashlights and equipment that Bishop Suheil Dawani of Jerusalem wanted delivered to the hospital, which like other Gaza institutions has suffered in the Israeli blockade. The delegation was told that the medical facility benefits 45,000 Palestinians each year, including some 3,000 Christians.
