North Korea deal

Christian Century,  March 6, 2007

NORTH KOREA DEAL: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice discusses on February 13 an agreement by North Korea to take steps toward nuclear disarmament under a groundbreaking deal struck to bring the impoverished communist nation some $300 million worth of aid. World Council of Churches executive Samuel Kobia praised the agreement from the six-party talks, saying it also vindicated the WCC's "long-standing policy of engagement and dialogue to resolve tension and conflict in North East Asia." The Presbyterian Church in South Korea also urged the normalization of diplomatic relations between North Korea, the U.S. and Japan.
