CANDID COMMENTS: Speaking recently to Likkud faithful, Omri Sharon, son of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of Israel, admitted that any talk of a Palestinian state is a ruse--a "speak softly" strategy in order to "wield a big stick." Sharon acknowledged that Israel is in control of Palestinian areas to the point that "the Palestinians are afraid to wander around with weapons even in their own cities." He even admitted that Israel is "violating international agreements, but no one is saying anything.
The United States is with us.... Obviously, we all want peace, who doesn't want peace ..." (New York Review of Books, Jan. 16).
