The need for cooperation …

Christian Century,  Dec 26, 2006  by Edd Doerr

As A HUMANIST I am more inclined toward Martin Marty's position than to that of Richard Dawkins ("Sneers," Nov. 14). Religion is not going to simply go away. Meanwhile, we and our planet face so many serious problems that the only intelligent course of action is for progressive Christians, Jews, humanists, Muslims, Hindus, etc., to work together to solve them. Having served on the board of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice for 31 years, as well as with other coalitions, I know from personal experience that this kind of cooperation works and is desperately needed.
