I BELIEVE there is an error in the "Century marks" item "Emperor Has No Church" (Nov. 2) regarding the nature of membership in the United Methodist Church,
President Bush is still on the membership rolls of Highland Park UMC in Dallas and is an associate member of Tarrytown UMC in Austin. United Methodists join the worldwide denomination, not just a local congregation.
Officially, according to the UMC's "connectional" polity, Bush remains a member of the United Methodist Church.
