Drive-up coffee

Christian Century,  August 21, 2007

DRIVE-UP COFFEE: A customer stops for coffee at the drive-through window of the "journeys" cafe at the 2,300-member Messiah Lutheran Church in Midland, Michigan. The church, which has been selling about 2,000 cups of coffee a month, also serves lattes, mochas and pastries inside the cafe, which seats 18.

The congregation's outreach effort is not unique. Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana, opened a Starbucks in its lobby, and Houston's Brentwood Baptist Church has a McDonald's restaurant in its adjacent learning center.
