Millions more movement

Diverse Issues in Higher Education,  Nov 3, 2005

On Oct. 15, 2005, thousands gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Million Man March and renew commitments to work toward positive change. The primary message of the day-long event was unity, as speakers called for collaborative efforts to address the ongoing struggles of Black Americans and others, particularly in light of the federal government's response to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Minister Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, initiated the march, which unlike its predecessor, included women and was open to all ethnicities.
