The Metropolitan Museum of Art is launching a collaborative but controversial new exhibit and Assistant DA Alex Cooper is attending the celebration. She is called away when a body is discovered in a stone sarcophagus belonging to the Met--the body is not only modern but is the corpse of the exhibit's museum liaison. If the victim hadn't died from arsenic poisoning, the death might have been judged accidental. But there was no question murder was on someone's agenda. Alex didn't realize the 1001 uses museums have for arsenic but the more she digs, the muddier, or perhaps dustier, the information.

Brown does a phenomenal job bringing Alex Cooper to life. Her slightly derisive voice puts Alex on top of her game. She's tenacious, politically savvy, and knows her worth without posturing or pomposity. Brown also handles the British, European and African imports with comfortable aplomb. Her bantering dialog is relaxed and familiar, as she has narrated previous Cooper mysteries. The abridgment is nearly flawless in its focused storytelling.
