Metropolitan Museum

This cup in the form of a war elephant made by Urban Wolf of Nuremberg, c. 1593-98, in silver-gilt and mother of pearl is one of 250 loaned objects on show in 'Princely splendour: The Dresden court 1580-1620' at the Metropolitan Museum, New York (26 October-30 January). The kunstkammer of the Electoral Palace in Dresden as it was in 1600 is being reassembled at the museum. Bronzes by Giambologna and ivories are some of the other exhibits. (+1 212 535 7710)
