Businesses taking the lead in pursuing regional commuting solutions
South Florida CEO, Oct, 2004
It's a dilemma that thousands of South Florida commuters face every day--making the mad dash to and from work amid congested highways, construction and accidents. Employers also face the challenge of providing employee parking, offering competitive benefits and recruiting a qualified workforce.

More and more South Florida businesses are realizing the benefits of working with South Florida Commuter Services (SFCS) to assist them with an array of challenges. For some businesses, the challenge is to reduce the need for parking spaces, while others need to be able to recruit and retain employees from across county lines.
Fidelity Federal Banking and Trust
Case in point is Fidelity Federal in downtown West Palm Beach. Fidelity Federal is a growing company that requires additional employees. Parking is a great challenge. Not only is there a lack of parking spaces, but the company is spending more money to locate, purchase and/or rent additional parking spaces.
SFCS is reviewing the commuter habits of its employees and with that information will develop a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan. This will include forming carpools or vanpools, promoting public transit options, as well as developing a flexible workforce plan.
"SFCS is helping us grow smarter. We are relying on them to address our parking challenges and ultimately reduce our investment of time and money," said Michele Dobos, Assistant Vice President, Employment and Recruitment Manager of Fidelity Federal.
Ultimate Software
Like Fidelity Federal, Ultimate Software continues to expand as a leading human resource management system. Three important concerns led them to South Florida Commuter Services-employee benefits, parking and high gas prices.
"Our company is all about people and working with South Florida Commuter Services only enhances what we can offer to our employees," said Vivian Maza, Senior Vice President of People at Ultimate Software. Their program assistance is a great employee benefit, and quite frankly we do not see any downside to accepting their free support."
