GL Communications has added five new products to its portfolio of PC-based test and analysis equipment. The * Network Surveyor, for the continuous monitoring of security, fraud detection, alarms, remote protocol analysis, etc., features a distributed architecture so it can monitor multiple sites and various applications. Nonintrusive T1/E1/T3 probes monitor protocols and conditions. The collected information is put into a central site database, which then can be queried by client applications written in Visual Basic, Power Builder, etc. The * Analog Test Set supports the RJ-11 interface and determines the quality of voice calls regardless of the type of networks they go across. The * Digital Central Office Switch Simulator (DCOSS), which supports up to 16 digital trunk lines and 48 analog phones, does load testing using real-time fax/voice/modem traffic. It also can take a call using one type of protocol (e.g., ISDN) and switch it out using a different protocol (e.g., SS7). The * GR-303 Protocol Analyzer, whi ch comes with an intuitive interface, does Layer 3+ filtering and search. It can isolate specific frames in real time or off line, the capture feature being limited only by the size of the hard disk. The * SA Bits Protocol Analyzer is for real-time or off-line analysis of HDLC frames. All products are available.
