Celebrate your perfect design - Director's Letter - Editorial

Natural Health,  Oct, 2003  by Barb Harris

Welcome to the revitalized NATURAL HEALTH. We're taking a new approach to wellness based upon the recognition that our bodies are naturally designed to be healthy!

Our genetic makeup has changed little over thousands of years, but our way of life has dramatically altered in little more than a century. We've become sedentary, convenience foods fill our kitchens, and stress is a common denominator.

We must look back to find our future, scientists now tell us. We need to take our genetic programming seriously, and reinvent our lifestyle to live completely and harmoniously. Here is just a sampling of this new knowledge:

Our bodies need high amounts of physical activity to maintain health and prevent chronic disease.

Our nutritional needs are met best by a plant-based, whole-foods diet.

Mind-states affect our biology: Being optimistic and resilient improves immune function and counters stress.

We have tribal roots and need community to thrive.

Spirituality makes us healthier, including listening to our hearts, clarifying our values and beliefs, and living according to them.

Personal expression, whether it's making art or adorning our bodies, is fundamental to higher self-esteem and better well-being.

To be truly healthy is to be energized and vital, living with purpose, and feeling good in our bodies. It is loving life and celebrating our true nature.

All of us at NATURAL HEALTH hope that you'll enjoy our new approach. It is our best effort to help you create your best health.

My best to you,
