Cyber sun predictor

Natural Health,  July-August, 2004

Each morning, type in your zip code at the EPA's new SunWise site (epa.gov/sunwise/uvindex.html) to get your ultraviolet-index forecast. Even at low UV levels, the EPA recommends slathering on sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Choose a broad-spectrum product with avobenzone, zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to block UVA light.

Previously thought to be less carcinogenic than UVB light, UVA rays induce a greater number of mutations in the layer of skin where cancers arise, suggests a study from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
