> Green tea might safely increase your stamina during exercise. A study in the American Journal of Physiology found that taking green tea extract for 10 weeks increased swimming endurance in rats by up to 24 percent. Lead author Takatoshi Murase theorizes that "a 165-pound athlete would have to drink about four cups of green tea daily long-term to get the same effect." Murase believes that green tea extract works by increasing the body's fat utilization; the study ruled out caffeine as the source of the increased endurance.
