Spring-clean your lips

Natural Health,  April, 2008  by Emmy Favilla

Sugar cane, a natural exfoliator and moisturizer, is a source of glycolic acid, which "is both an exfoliant and a humectant, so it smooths and hydrates," says Diane Berson, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City. To exfoliate your lips, make a paste with equal parts sugar and olive or vegetable oil, then rub it on with your finger or a toothbrush in a circular motion; wipe off with a washcloth. For something ready-made, try Jane Iredale's Sugar & Butter Lip Duo ($24;janeirdale.com), with an exfoliator on one side and a lip plumper on the other.
