Chocolate for coughs
Natural Health, March, 2008 by Frank Scali
To suppress a cough, nibble on approximately 450 milligrams of 90 percent dark chocolate. Dark chocolate contains a chemical called theobromine that is more potent than dextromethorphan (the ingredient used in most over-the-counter cough suppressants) or codeine; the amount in 450 mg of chocolate should keep you from coughing for up to four hours.
