Dare to Lose. - book review

Natural Health,  April, 2002  by Francesca Forrest

BY SHARI LIEBERMAN, PH.D., WITH NANCY BRUNING

AVERY; $25.95

We all know that diets are bad: You may lose weight but you usually gain it back, and subsequent diets have less and less effect. So Lieberman, a clinical nutritionist, assures us she's not offering a diet. However, her four-step program, which includes nutrition and exercise advice, sure looks like a diet plan. I even found my old friend steamed broccoli, along with his constant companion, baked chicken without the skin. But Lieberman's guidelines for detoxing look helpful, as do her programs for weight training and moderate aerobics. Most interesting is her belief that some of us may no longer be able to lose weight without the help of natural supplements like ephedrine and pyruvate. Although a lot of her program is old news, the information on supplements is clear, detailed, and useful.
