More help for chapped hands - Letter to the Editor

Natural Health,  March, 2003  by Tim Liston

I will try herbalist Laurel Vukovic's suggestion to use a warm comfrey tea soak to heal the small, painful cuts that accompany dry skin ("Heal Chapped Winter Hands," Ask the Experts, December 2002). But I'd like to offer another remedy that works for me. My best success comes from applying tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) and vitamin E oil to a cut every night, and then covering it with a bandage. The skin usually grows back together in two to four days.
