I just wanted to write and tell you how much I appreciated your article about pear-shaped women ["Pare Down a Pear Shape," Sept./Oct. 2003]. In the past eight months, I've lost almost 40 pounds--only 20 more to go. I know this is a great achievement in and of itself, but I was so depressed because I wasn't yet seeing the change in my lower body that I saw in my upper body. This was so frustrating to me because my upper body isn't as big of a problem area for me. Your article totally inspired me to get back into my exercise routine and gave me a great plan to try out. It definitely motivated me again, and I learned a lot of things I didn't know about my own body.
