Does creatine work for women - Extra Training - study indicates that women do not benefit as fully as men - Brief Article
Muscle & Fitness/Hers, June, 2002
Creatine supplementation and resistance training is a dynamic duo known to improve anaerobic performance and strength, as well as increase fat-free mass. But when researchers examined the effects of creatine supplementation on protein metabolism in 27 young, healthy men and women, they found that the rate of whole-body protein breakdown was reduced in the men only -- the female test subjects didn't benefit from an anti-catabolic action.
The findings were published in the Journal of Applied physiology.
