Worth the challenge: 2003 is the year to continue to strive for excellence - Editorial - Brief Article

Muscle & Fitness/Hers,  Jan-Feb, 2003  by Joe Weider,  Betty Weider

The beginning of a new year is a good time to look back at the previous one and assess your goals. If you accomplished the resolutions you made last January, where do you want to go next? Those of us who are enthusiastic about fitness never seem to stop striving to do our best. We do the same thing at M&F HERS. Three years ago we started as a special-interest publication for our parent magazine, MUSCLE & FITNESS. Now we publish nine times a year and have five foreign editions, plus our own special-interest publication on weight loss.

Our readers and the fitness athletes they emulate continue to do more, too, and this issue is full of their inspiring stories. This past October Susie Curry became the first woman to win her third consecutive Fitness Olympia title in Las Vegas. Coming out on top isn't an easy feat; the women Susie competes against are all hungry for the title and each year the competition gets hotter. Fitness competitors are an amazingly focused bunch, dedicating their time not only to training in the gym but spending months practicing their routines and adhering to a strict diet. In this month's Success Story, a reader shares similar experiences after deciding to take on the challenge of fitness competition. And as we have the past two years, we bring you stories of three incredible women who have overcome adversity to push their limits and reach their goals.

Whether your New Year's resolutions have you striving to be more time-efficient, adhere to a healthier diet or build a stronger body, our goal is to help get you there. Let's do our best together.
