Researchers from the National Institutes of Health now suggest that the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C for healthy young women be increased from 75 mg to 90 mg. The 75-mg recommendation, issued by the Food and Nutrition Board in 2000, was based on results of studies in men; recent findings imply that the current 90-mg recommendation for men may also be too low. Good food sources of Vitamin C include citrus fruits, potatoes, strawberries, broccoli and leafy green vegetables.
