AEHA is a national registered charity operated by volunteers with branches in cities across Canada. Together we strive to promote awareness of environmental conditions that may be harmful to human health and to bring individuals together for mutual support and education.

Achievements of AEHA to Advance the Understanding of Environmental Illness

* Creation of the student kit by Elizabeth Hare, Leslierae Rotor, (Past AEHA President and Vice-President) and other members. Title: Accommodating the Needs of Students with Environmental Sensitivities, a report for school boards, parents and educators. This has been requested throughout Canada and the US. It is an information and advocacy package which includes: a report documenting the effects of indoor air pollution on children's learning, behaviour and health, with guidelines for preventing and/or reducing indoor air quality problems; a brochure; and the text for a five-minute oral presentation suitable for copying on transparencies.

* A presentation to the Royal Commission on Learning, Ontario Ministry of Education and Training titled "The Environment of Learning," created and presented by Elizabeth Stutt in November 1993.

* An article on Healthy Schools titled "Environmental Sensitivities in the Classroom" published in the Green Teacher magazine Oct-Nov 1994, created by Elizabeth Stutt, Leslierae Rotor and artist Linda Phillips.

* A presentation on "Water-based Markers for Whiteboards"--a study conducted at the request of John Minter, Principal Cedarview Middle School, Carleton Board of Education. Created and presented by Elizabeth Stutt, August 1996.

* The Annual Conference of AEHA National held at Algonquin College, June 1995, on Environmental Issues and Topics, attended by approximately 300 people, with Dr. Doris Rapp as key presenter.
