Unique Pharmaceuticals is the first compounding pharmaceutical company in North America to become registered to the ISO 9002 quality standard. Certification was awarded upon initial registration audit.

Unique Pharmaceuticals, a three-year-old company based in Temple, Texas, is one of the largest and most respected compounding pharmacies in North America. Unique provides injectable and capsule pharmaceutical compounds to a wide variety of human and veterinary medical disciplines.

Unique's quality policy statement focuses on the goal to meet or exceed established guidelines for the pharmaceutical industry, to consistently improve its facilities, to improve the educational and skill levels of its employees and managers, to consistently improve its internal policies and procedures and to maintain excellence through quality standards that meet or exceed customers' expectations.

The ISO 9000 family of standards, established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is widely recognized in 91 countries around the world. ISO 9002 is a specific certification that applies to organizations that produce, install and service products. ISO 9002 quality management requirements incorporate all of the activities associated with quality, addressing those activities that help ensure customer's needs are met. The standards are designed to look at all of the important processes affecting quality, from the initial review of contracts received from the customer, to the production of products, to the packaging and delivery of the finished product. The intent of the standards is to provide a worldwide, universal baseline for quality management.

Companies use ISO 9000 standards to assess and revise their methods, procedures, and processes to improve quality. The intent of ISO 9000 is to consistently satisfy customers by meeting their requirements, to prevent defects, to reduce variations, to reduce waste and to continuously improve a company's methods, procedures, and processes to improve quality. ISO 9000 compliance certification means the company has a recognized quality management system in place. It lends prestige to the company in the international marketplace. It also indicates that the company operates with a constant emphasis on continuous improvement.
