And the Grand Prizewinner was ... Maria Ureña, from Los Angeles!
"I was born in Ciudad Cuahutemoc, Chihuahua. My parents brought me to California when I was a little girl. I attended Belmont High School and Pasadena City College. I've worked with the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, for Gloria Molina at the County Board of Directors Office, and for Senator Gloria Romero. I am the liaison for Monterey Park/Morelia Sister Cities Association and I have served as the Media Relations Coordinator for Miss Mexico/Los Angeles for the Mexican Benefit Committee, and also for the Federación de Clubes Michoacanos en California. I have three sons. Both my husband and I enjoy traveling. Besides traveling, my favorite pastime is meditation, reading, music and dancing. I love wine and socializing. I enjoy and love my people end both my countries. I relate to my countries as a mother and father: Mexico as the mother who gave birth to me, and the U.S. as the father who nurtured me and gave me many opportunities."
On February 4, Maria was treated to a day at ESP Salon in Santa Monica, California, courtesy of owner Aubrey Loots. The salon provided over $100 worth of hair products in addition to color, shampoo, conditioner, style end makeup. Mervyn's spokesperson Indra Zuno was on hand with Senior Account Executive Ana Lydia Ochoa from Valencia, Pérez & Echeveste public relations agency to award the fun jewelry, and clothes. Photos were taken, a phone call from Aden Chalino Sánchez (Univisión Records) was taped, prizes were awarded, and Univision TV's Cecilia Brogan was on hand to film it all and interview the lucky winner!
