Preparing for magnet recognition: a perioperative retreat

AORN Journal,  April, 2008

AORN and the Competency & Credentialing Institute have developed Preparing for Magnet Recognition: A Perioperative Excellence Retreat, a program that will provide attendees with expert knowledge to ensure success in achieving Magnet status. Presentations given by Cheryl Tatano Beck, RN, DNSc, CNM, FAAN; Paula Graling, RN, MSN, CNOR, CNS, and Patricia C. Seifert, RN, MSN, CNOR, CRNFA, FAAN, will focus on the 14 Forces of Magnetism and methods for effectively demonstrating each of the forces within the OR. In addition, they will address common perioperative challenges, including how to help staff members understand the connection between what they do and how it applies to achieving Magnet recognition, how to prepare teams for this organizational journey, and how to embody the Magnet principles.

Chief nursing officers, directors of perioperative nursing, Magnet coordinators, and others highly involved in the application process should plan to attend this conference. The conference will be held Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, 2008, in Chicago, Illinois. For more information or to register, visit http://www.aorn.org/Events.
