An article on innovations in cutting technology states, "Should the laser turn out to be safe, it could have a host of applications." * News in ORbit says that the use of plastic replacements for diseased corneas is imminent. * The Journal reports that artificial sweeteners, including saccharin, have been judged by the US Food., and Drug Administration (FDA) to be safe for dietary use.

Another news item discusses a new cap for scrub nurses that was designed to protect "today's bouffant hair styles." The cap met the aseptic standards at Galveston Hospital where it was designed, and it could be purchased from a uniform company in Houston. * A classified ad for a nurse anesthetist states "male preferred."
