New mom encourages other vegan parents
Vegetarian Journal, May-June, 2004
I had my first baby, CJ, October 20, 2003, and had a completely healthy pregnancy. I have a vegan diet and had no complications whatsoever....
I have continued to eat a healthy vegan diet while I am breastfeeding my baby. He has not eaten anything else other than breastmilk for the past 5.3 months and is a very healthy, strong little boy. The pediatrician says that he looks more mature than his age and thinks it's great that I am a vegetarian, i.e., he does not see any problems at all with not eating meat. Each visit, he says "continue doing what you're doing" because of his strong health and development.
I wrote this just to encourage other Moms out there that it is possible to have a healthy pregnancy and baby while foregoing the meats and dairy. It's the best way to eat!
