Comparing Freshmen At An Urban Texas University With Those Of A Rural University On Democratic Maturity - Statistical Data Included
College Student Journal, March, 2000 by Rosemarie Kolstad, L. Garnet Lewis, Mary Lou Mccabe
1. No significant relationship with age of freshmen
2. Female students tended to show significantly higher SYM and CAR scores; as well as SOCINT, and DEMOTOT ones.
3. The only negative correlations among the DEMO scores were in the ASS relations.
Part Score Reliability
Part score reliability was computed for all DEMO part scores using the part/whole method with the Spearman/Brown correction formula. All of the DEMO scores obtained acceptable reliability. The lowest part score being SYM with a corrected reliability of 0.649; which is quite acceptable.
Factor Validity
A principal components factor analysis was computed on the 8 DEMO part scores using Varimax rotations as depicted in Table 6 below. Each one of the 8 part scores obtained clear independence of organization (each measuring something different factorially), and with not a single distractor present with any of the factors (loadings of 300 or better besides the identity loading).
