[1] PHILADELPHIA -- Hillary Clinton needed a big win in Pennsylvania to stay in the race for U.S. president. On April 22, she pulled it off. The New York senator beat Democratic rival Barack Obama 55 percent to 45 percent in the Pennsylvania primary. Both candidates had spent weeks crisscrossing the state, trying to win over voters who are struggling with the rising costs of housing, food. and gasoline. Exit polls (voter interviews) found Clinton had strong support from factory workers, people over age 65, and women. "Because of you, the tide is turning," Clinton told a cheering crowd in Philadelphia (above).

Winning one primary isn't enough to seal this election, though. Obama, a senator from Illinois, still leads in the delegate count, which will decide who becomes the Democratic Party's nominee for president.
Seven more states have Democratic primaries coming up, starting with Indiana and North Carolina on May 6. Which Democrat will take on Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona on November 4? We may have to wait until the Democratic National Convention, starting August 25 in Denver, to find out.
