Monster Founder Jeff Taylor Launches Eons, Challenges 50+ People to Live to Be 100 or Die Trying; Web site to serve as source of inspiration and information for Boomers and Seniors
Business Wire, July 31, 2006
BOSTON -- Today marks the public launch of Eons(TM), the 50+ media company created by Monster.com founder Jeff Taylor and the unveiling of the much-anticipated Web site, Eons.com, a spirited online community created specifically for adults age 50 and older. Eons.com challenges boomers to tackle their life dreams and adventures, celebrate their accomplishments and make the most of today. With "Boom! Boom! Boom!" Jeff Taylor is calling all baby boomers to the launch of Eons.com.
"This new generation of boomers and seniors is hungry to live the biggest life possible," says Taylor, who forever changed the way job seekers land their next great opportunity when he created Monster, the first and only globally recognized brand for careers. "They have more ambition, health and financial means than any other generation. They can tackle life with gusto from the moment they celebrate turning 50 through the journey toward the reachable goal of living to be 100. Eons is putting out a challenge to make the most of this time and, starting today, invites all spirited individuals 50+ to join."
Eons.com: Driving Innovation through a 50+ Lens
"If something doesn't fit our '50+ lens', it doesn't make it onto the site," explains Taylor. "That means everything is timely, customized and relevant. Co-creation with our members is critical to ensuring that we are capturing and reflecting their voice, wants and needs."
The Eons.com Web site debuts with 10 leading-edge products, four developed around the key pillars of this generation's lives - Body, Money, Love and Fun - and four unique, database-driven products that improve with member feedback and engagement, including cRANKy(TM) a simpler age-relevant search engine; Eons Goals, where people create and tackle their list of life dreams; Obits, the largest national free obituary center; and LifeMap, a collaborative online tool to visually map and share life stories. Also included is the Longevity Calculator - where you can learn your projected lifespan and tips to live longer - plus a suite of social networking tools, from member rating and rankings to blogs and groups that connect people with similar interests. Registration at Eons.com is free.
Product Overview :
cRANKy(TM) - The First Age-Relevant Search Engine
Developed by a team of search industry veterans, Eons introduces cRANKy, the world's first age-relevant search engine. "Our philosophy is the antithesis of most popular search engines in the market today," says Taylor. "Consumers, especially the 50+ group, don't want millions of results, they want the best results." cRANKy delivers on this with its "Power of Four" model - "rank"ing the four best Web results based on reviews by Eons editorial team and member rankings and ratings, combined with the most frequently viewed Web pages by this generation. For registered members, cRANKy will save search histories, allowing members to easily navigate back to their favorite Web sites.
Obits
Eons launches Obits with 77 million death records, the nation's largest free obituary database. "Jim Morrison once said 'No one gets out alive,'" says Taylor. "It is a fact of life. The people in this generation, unlike any before want to exit their own way and want to be able to pay tribute to those who have influenced their lives."
Eons will harness the power of the Internet to allow members to recapture the art of writing obituaries, creating deeper, richer tributes for their loved ones. "Individuals have been restricted by the cost of the agate line of a newspaper," explains Taylor. "Just as the help wanted classifieds have been transformed to the Web, Eons brings the obituary notice into the 21st century by offering timeless, unrestricted space for the celebration of life."
Goals/Eons 100
A cornerstone for Eons, the Goals product challenges users to "Top 10" their life - create a list of as many as 100 things they want to accomplish before they're 100, then explore Eons' robust suite of tools, experts, content, community and special offers to help them accomplish each goal. Once registered, users can view Eons 100, an up-to-the-minute list of the top 100 goals shared by all Eons members. Goal Explore pages let users research goals of interest, while community tools such as blogs and boards enable people with similar goals to collaborate, share insights and potentially join up to share the experience together.
Eons LifeMap
LifeMap is the first collaborative online tool that inspires adults 50+ to document and share their life story. "Leaving a legacy is a universal desire we heard articulated throughout our research," says Taylor. "We created the Eons LifeMap to turn the potentially overwhelming prospect of chronicling your life into an entertaining, interactive activity that friends and family can share." Members use Eons tools to create a rich, multimedia visual timeline of their life history that can be stored online. Historic events dating back to 1900 act as visual prompts while intuitive visual icons and simple photo upload instructions allow entries to be as simple or as detailed as desired. A slideshow feature lets members display all their entries in sequence.
