Network World Magazine Makes Ardence Customer, Freeze.com, an ''Enterprise All-Star''

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Premier Screen Enhancement Site Recognized for its Ability to Streamline Data Center Operations and Scale IT Operations during Significant Growth

Ardence, Inc., whose award-winning software enables breakthrough IT-management and user benefits by on-demand streaming of both applications and operating systems from networked storage, today announced that its customer, Freeze.com has been selected by Network World magazine as a "2005 Enterprise All-Star." Freeze.com is the Internet's premier screen-enhancement site.

Freeze.com offers high quality, fresh, family content - primarily screen savers and graphics -- for PCs. Freeze services more then 1.4 million users a day and 80+ million registered users, and powers sites such as screensaver.com, my.freeze.com, ringtone.com, wallpapers.com and more than 45 others. The nature of Freeze's business creates significant traffic spikes on its computing infrastructure. In order to deliver a high-quality user experience Freeze chose Ardence's on-demand streaming software to insure its computing infrastructure could handle peak demands.

Freeze chose the Server Edition of the Ardence Software-Streaming Platform, a software-only solution that streams the operating system and applications to let IT management provision servers for new uses instantly - enabling unprecedented automation, flexibility and responsiveness at a fraction of the cost of any other approach. With Ardence Server Edition, Freeze is able to deliver the OS and associated applications to each IBM blade in its server inventory by streaming the software in a fashion similar to video streaming. Rather than downloading the whole OS to each blade, the streaming approach sends just enough of the software so that each blade can begin to execute its commands. As the system requires more libraries, those elements are delivered as needed.

"Through this Enterprise All-Star Award, we recognize Freeze.com's exceptional use of network technology to further business objectives. In particular, we liked the company's new-style approach to server management, and the big performance and productivity gains it has reaped as a result. Freeze.com certainly exemplifies the All-Star concept," said Beth Schultz, editor, Network World Signature Series.

The Network World Enterprise All-Star Awards recognize exceptional use of network technology to further business objectives of organizations across a range of industry segments, including education, financial services and healthcare. For the 2005 award, 50 enterprise IT organizations representing the best, most innovative applications of network technology were selected. These award-winning network IT projects are profiled in Network World's special edition Signature Series Enterprise All-Star Issue published November 21, and the Web site at www.networkworld.com/allstar/2005.

"Software streaming is undoubtedly the wave of the future," said Kyle Ohme, Director of Information Technology, Freeze.com. "We needed a solution that would assist in providing a responsive and reliable infrastructure capable of adapting to demand and momentary shifts of traffic. With Ardence, we have only begun to realize how easy we have it now - what was once an arduous and tedious task of reprovisioning servers, now happens at the click of a mouse."

"We are very pleased to see Freeze.com gain this recognition," said Richard Davis, Ardence Chairman, CEO and President. "Freeze.com has shown tremendous foresight in recognizing that the next wave of technology is in software streaming and virtualization. They are ahead of the curve in technological advancement, and they are being acknowledged for their ingenuity by a leading publication. We congratulate them for their innovation."
