Business Wire,  April 14, 2005

NEW YORK -- Fitch Ratings has assigned an 'A+' rating to the $125,000,000 of 5.80% senior notes issued by the Georgia Power Company. The senior notes are unsecured and rank equally with existing unsecured debt of Georgia Power Company. The Rating Outlook is Stable.

The proceeds from the sale of the series Y senior notes will be applied by the company to repay a portion of its outstanding commercial paper, $50 million of which will be used to redeem $50 million series P senior notes on April 15. The remainder will be used for general corporate purposes, including funding the utility's construction program.
