NEW YORK -- Seth Berger, CEO of basketball footwear and apparel company AND 1, today announced that when the popular AND 1 Mix Tape(R) Tour presented by Mountain Dew Code Red comes to New York City next week, AND 1 is going to invade the city, starting with the Open Run just off 33rd Street and Penn Station from 4-6:30 p.m. in the search for the next playground legend before taking over Madison Square Garden for the game at 7:30 p.m.

Ballers from all over the Big Apple will have the opportunity to play streetball outside the Garden in front of thousands during Open Run for their chance to win a place on the 2005 AND 1 Mix Tape(R) Tour, an endorsement contract and may be featured on the third season of "Street Ball: The AND 1 Mix Tape(R) Tour presented by Mountain Dew Code Red" on ESPN this summer. Open run is a series of non-stop basketball games during which New York talent take to the court to try to earn a spot on the AND 1 Mix Tape(R) Tour roster. Participants must be 18 or accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The 2004 AND 1 Mix Tape(R) Tour is the official, authentic streetball event running this summer in 30 cities from June 3rd through August 21st. What began as an underground, five-city event is now the United States' largest summer-long basketball tour featuring the world's best streetball players. Each Tour stop consists of a free Open Run followed by a ticketed Mix Tape Game, which features AND 1 playground players including the newly signed Professor, as well as living legends Hot Sauce, Main Event, Half Man, Alimoe, AO, Prime Objective, 50, Escalade, Go Get It, Helicopter, High Octane, Shane the Dribbling Machine and Syk Wit It.
