BEDFORD, Mass. -- Progress Professional Services Honored for Online Communication and Technical Publication in International Competition

Progress Software, a leading supplier of technology for building the world's best business application, and an operating company of Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq: PRGS), today announced that the Progress Professional Services (PPS) group has won an Excellence award in the "Tutorials/Training" category of the Virginia-based Society for Technical Communication's (STC) International Online Communication Competition. The award is part of STC's annual technical communication competitions program, which highlights the best examples of the art and science of technical communication.

Progress received the Excellence Award, as well as Best of Show designation, for the Web-based course "Diagnosing Application Performance Problems using PROMON." The course helps Progress programmers learn how to analyze application activity and tune application performance in a step-by-step process. Past winners of the competition include Hewlett-Packard, Xerox, Microsoft and IBM. Progress was also recognized earlier this year for the same course by the Boston chapter of the STC (see press release at: http://www.progress.com/company_info/news_views/pressrelease_202316/ pritem.ssp?).

"With award-winning educational and partner programs, Progress Software continues to advance its commitment and support for the Progress developer community," says Ed Sugrue, vice president of PPS. "We are dedicated to making technology easy to access, use and understand and are pleased to see those efforts recognized by our distinguished peers at STC."
