Mail2World Taps Brian R. Schmidt as New VP of Sales & Business Development

Business Wire,  August 16, 2004

LOS ANGELES -- Mail2World, Inc., a global provider of advanced outsourced messaging and collaboration solutions, today announced that Brian R. Schmidt is taking over leadership of the firm's sales organization as vice president, sales & business development. Schmidt joins Mail2World's executive team at a time when the company is aggressively repositioning its fully hosted technology as an alternative to hardware-based email systems, such as Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes.

"We're delighted that Brian has hit the ground running toward our 2004 sales goals," states Youssef Abed, Executive Vice President of Mail2World. "His previous record of overachievement in enterprise sales at Cisco and global market penetration at Sprint is spectacular. He brings clear strategic insight and an energetic talent for tactical execution at a time when Mail2World is exploding into the enterprise messaging and collaboration space."

"I'm looking forward to building on the momentum Mail2World has generated," Schmidt comments. "I've been extremely impressed with the high-quality products the company has developed beyond their original Web-based email service. One aspect of Mail2World that excites me is that many of the products are inspired by customers who continue to push us to expand our technology into new solutions. For example, thanks to a Mail2World customer who experienced a lot of downtime with their in-house email system, we now offer an excellent email continuity solution with almost universal appeal."

After earning an MBA in international finance and marketing from University of Southern California (USC), Schmidt began his career working in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Australia to learn the nuances of global commerce. In 1990, he joined Sprint Corporation's Business Services Group as business services manager, where he won sales performance awards five years in a row. Sprint promoted him to the company's first international sales manager position for data and voice technology.

Leveraging his success in strategic sales, Schmidt signed on with Cisco Systems as enterprise representative. He consistently exceeded sales revenue targets in vertical markets and earned the "Best Strategic Win" award for driving technology initiatives into Guess Jeans Inc.

Prior to joining Mail2World, Schmidt was director of sales and business development for YFree Wireless, where he built multiple revenue streams, created strategic partnerships, and developed the strategic alliance that resulted in the company's successful acquisition.
