WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 2003

New National Urban League President Marc H. Morial will help kick off the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Legislative Conference this week as part of a series of appearances in Washington DC, September 23 through 27, 2003. He will be available for comment about the CBC's legislative agenda and how the National Urban League will work to address key urban issues, and he will also appear on urban housing and education panels. Mr. Morial will also receive the Ronald H. Brown Legacy Award. Please see below an itinerary for Mr. Morial and media availabilities for this week.

-- 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. CBC Opening Plenary Session Mr. Morial

will join NAACP President Kweisi Mfume and Rainbow/PUSH

Coalition Founder and President Jesse Jackson for this kick

off event. Mr. Morial will remark on the League's mission in

the 21st century, including his call for an Empowerment

Movement in the areas of education, the economy, health and

quality of life, civic engagement, and civil rights and racial

justice. Location: Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount

Vernon Place, N.W.

-- 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Reception: Fulfilling America's Promise

Mr. Morial will participate in this reception to honor recent

appointees to the Bush Administration. Location: U.S. Capitol,

Roundtable Mr. Morial will be a panelist in this session that

will focus on housing issues in the urban economy. Mr. Morial

will address such topics as how homeownership can contribute

to building wealth, why the government must create incentives

for developers to help build and revitalize urban communities,

and the need for more affordable housing in urban communities.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Mel Martinez will also

-- 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. National MBA Awards Luncheon Mr.

Morial will receive the Ronald H. Brown Legacy Award at the

-- 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Howard University Convocation and

Naming Ceremony Mr. Morial will participate in this event that

will also serve to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Brown

vs. the Board of Education. Location: Howard University Louis

Stokes Health Sciences Library, 501 W Street, N.W.,

Washington, DC.

-- 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Education Technology Conference Mr.

Morial will be a participant in this meeting where he will

share best practices for establishing community technology

centers - "digital campuses" - in urban communities. He will

also comment on how the League successfully established more

than 70 digital campuses in urban communities nationwide.
