Pacific Biometrics, Inc. (PBI) (OTCBB:PBME) and Pacific Biometrics Research Foundation (PBRF) have formally renewed their affiliation, reaffirming a long-standing relationship between the two organizations.

Under the affiliation agreement, PBI will provide all aspects of referral laboratory testing for PBRF in support of the Cholesterol Reference Method Laboratory Network. These testing services include study coordination, sample procurement, analytical laboratory testing, statistical analysis, reporting of results, and quality assurance processes.

Established in 1990, PBRF is a leader in efforts to improve accuracy in clinical laboratory testing, especially for risk factors related to chronic disease, through scientific research, technical support, standardization services, and education. PBRF is particularly focused on supporting activities related to the assessment, detection, and measurement of risk associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and other related chronic diseases. PBRF is one of four US affiliates in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Cholesterol Reference Method Laboratory Network. CDC Network laboratories perform accuracy comparison studies leading to certification of total, LDL and HDL cholesterol as well as tryglyceride assays. Reference methods from PBRF are standardized to accurate methods at the CDC and are maintained in collaboration with PBI.

Established in 1989, PBI provides specialized central laboratory and contract research services to support pharmaceutical and diagnostic manufacturers conducting human clinical trial research. The company provides expert services in the areas of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, arthritis, and nutrition. The PBI laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Lipid Standardization Program.
