U.S. Bank Corporate Payment Systems' PowerTrack Delivers Assistance to Military Families

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2003
Since 9/11, many members of the National Guard and Reserve Forces have been called to active duty, and the need to provide assistance for their families is greater than ever. In response, the PowerTrack(R) group from U.S. Bank Corporate Payment Systems, is proud to announce that it will join forces with the Sponsor-a-Family program, which is dedicated to easing the burden on military families throughout Minnesota by donating 100 percent of all contributions received to military families, regardless of political or religious affiliations.
The Sponsor-a-Family program offers military families assistance in numerous ways, which includes providing help with home repairs, gift certificates to purchase food and other household items, clothing and even a "wish list" for children who might otherwise not receive gifts this holiday season.
"At U.S. Bank we take our community involvement seriously, and we want to do our share in this time of need," said Richard Langer, senior vice president and general manager of PowerTrack. "As a citizen-soldier myself, I understand how important this program is to military families, and this is our opportunity to say thank you for the sacrifices they are making on behalf of us all."
When the men and women of the armed forces are called to action, they not only protect our country, they also severely disrupt their lives. They are forced to leave family, friends and jobs and many suffer both financial and family hardships. It is estimated that more than 7,000 Minnesotans are currently serving overseas, and some 10 percent of those qualify for assistance because their income has dropped below poverty levels.
If you would like to provide assistance or learn more about the Sponsor-a-Family program, please call (612) 664-8595 in Minneapolis, (800) 285-3014 in St. Paul or go online to governor.state.mn.us/flmain1.asp and read about Minnesota's Military Family Care Initiative.
