Zokalo Entertainment Announces the East Coast Premiere of the Award-Winning Film ``No Turning Back'' to be featured at the Urbanworld Film Festival

LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2001

After winning critical acclaim in Spain and the $20,000 Audience Award for Best Feature Film, along with a five-minute standing ovation during its recent World Premiere at the Malaga Film Festival, "No Turning Back," which created a big buzz in Los Angeles, will have its East Coast Premiere at the Urbanworld Film Festival in New York.

The film will be shown Thursday, August 2 at the Magic Johnson Theater in Harlem at 4 p.m. The movie will be featured again on August 4 at the Loews State Theater in Times Square at 10 a.m.

"No Turning Back" is an international co-production between the United States (Zokalo Entertainment) and Spain (CARTEL). Based on actual events, the film tells the agonizing story of an illegal immigrant and his six-year old daughter, whose lives in the United States were turned upside down when he was involved in a tragic accident. The motion picture was shot in English in Southern California.

"We look forward to the New York audience response to the film," said filmmaker Jesus Nebot. "Our aim is to entertain and to touch people's hearts at the same time."

In a remarkable achievement, Nebot wrote, directed, produced and also stars in the film, playing the role of the father. Among his many accolades, Nebot is the recipient of the Southern California Motion Picture Council's Golden Star Halo Award and the Golden Eagle Award as Outstanding Independent Filmmaker of 2001.

The film's multicultural cast includes Emmy Award Winners Vernee Watson-Johnson and Susan Haskell, as well as up-and-coming star Lindsay Price.
