Installation is expected to be completed by the City in the second half of 1999. At that time, Schlumberger will have a total installed base in New York City of 430 units controlling over 20,000 parking spaces.

Proven Wireless Turnkey Communication

The Schlumberger parking solution for New York City provides unique centralized two-way communication to each unit. Already a proven success in Europe, centralization allows each terminal to remotely maintain constant onboard communication with a central monitoring station. From the central station, parking managers download information on maintenance, revenue and usage requirements; can raise and lower rate structures automatically in response to special events; and receive up to 100 different real-time alarms to alert them to tampering, maintenance needs, or a full coin compartment.

Multi-Space System Provides Significant Benefits

The vandal-proof Schlumberger DGLine system accepts both coins and pre-payment cards. The units, which each monitor up to 15 parking spaces on-street and in excess of 100 parking spaces off-street, are designed with a special mounting that attaches to existing city light poles, saving installation time and expanding available parking space. The state-of-the-art terminals feature high-security ball locks to deter theft, receipts for accurate collection of parking fees, and graphic capabilities for displaying messages.
