Zinecard approval

OB/GYN News,  Feb 1, 2003

Zinecard (dexrazoxane for injection) is now indicated for reducing the incidence and severity of cardiomyopathy that is associated with doxorubicin administration in those women with metastatic breast cancer, who have received a cumulative doxorubicin dose of 300 mg / [m.sup.2] and who will continue to receive doxorubicin to maintain tumor control.

However, the drug is not recommended for use with the initiation of doxorubicin therapy in patients. For more information, contact Pharmacia Corporation, 800-323-4202, www.pharmacia.com.
